A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Solomon often will contrast the wise against the foolish and we see it here an example of foolishness and its end is destruction. He repeats this same Proverb in Proverbs 16:25. I remember one time driving to a destination and thinking it was the right way, it felt like I was going the way that seemed right. When I eventually put it in the GPS, it showed that I was majorly lost and headed in the opposite direction. Our heart can lead us astray. Most people we speak to on the streets have this idea that they are right and we just have to be nice and kind. Little do they know that they are completely lost. Many people trust their heart as to what they should do. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? Trusting our heart will lead us to destruction which is why when we come to Christ we have a new heart, He takes that heart of stone and makes it soft into a heart of flesh.

Almost everyone is going their own way and according to their desires and what seems right. The end is death which is our payment for our sins, the wages of sin is death. This is the second death which is hell. For us as Christians, we have something like a GPS, the gospel. Before we tell them the way to go, we need to use God’s law which is like a road map that gently points out that they are lost and headed for destruction. Then the good news not only shows an alternative way, it is the Way. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Matthew 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. I pray that many more people will repent and get off the broad way and trust in Christ on that narrow way. As much as we know there is a way that seems right to man, but its end is the way of death. It could be said that there is a Way that is right to mankind, and it leads to life and life to the full.
