GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION
NOT A GOD OF CONFUSION
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
This is written in relation to order in church where some people in the Corinthian church were giving prophecy or words out of order or being loud and perhaps confusing; that’s the framework for this verse. We need churches to have an order today and structure. Some are too rigid but we need order and also be open to the Holy Spirit. A true Biblical church will have that peace, which is a fruit of the Spirit. Often when I pray I quote this verse as we also need clarity and peace when making decisions, it’s so easy to get clouded and confused and yet I pray for His peace to know if I should or shouldn’t do something. Sometimes we already know that wisdom but there are times we need more discernment. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Often when we know we need to do something our flesh doesn’t feel like it, and sometimes we want to do something and there’s no peace. It’s important we obey and not run like Jonah away from it. If God wants something, He will give us that grace to do it. Sometimes we need to keep asking God in prayer before He shows us direction. Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. There are also times we just have to completely trust God for finances, salvation, healing and impossibilities. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Wait on the Lord before we do something and let His peace guide you. He is not a God of confusion.
