WITH INTEGRITY
WITH INTEGRITY
Proverbs 10:9 He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.
Psalm 15:2 He who walks with integrity and practices righteousness, who speaks the truth from his heart,
Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.
Here in Proverbs and Psalms we see this idea of Integrity. It’s another way of saying honesty. Integrity is seen in a building or a wall. Structural integrity is the ability of a structure to withstand an intended load without failing due to fracture, deformation, or fatigue. In a similar way we can stand under pressure. We live out what we believe. Not just on a Sunday when everyone sees our faith but during the week when the world is watching or if we’re alone only God can see what we’re doing. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Although we aren’t, we ought to be. May we only change to be more like Him.
Many times, I’ve shared the gospel with people and they look at the hypocrisy of the church. They see a lack of integrity and like the Proverbs say they pervert their ways and become known; get caught out it would seem. It seems to give people a licence to walk away from the church and it causes many to become Atheists or Agnostics. I like to say that Jesus also had a big issue with hypocrites, the Pharisees of His day, had a front of doing good and yet Jesus called them hypocrites several times. They honoured Jesus with their lips and their hearts were far from Him. We are ambassadors for Christ when we share the gospel. May we be the same person behind closed doors as on the streets sharing the gospel or in church. If there’s any secret sin, deal with it and repent. Being a man or woman of integrity is a great witness to this world. Psalm 25:21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. Too often this world has seen Christianity poorly represented and I pray we will see honest, genuine Christians who confess when they sin but walk blameless before the world.
